Our Charlotte Motor Speedway Tour!

I do realize that this post is EXTREMELY late, but none of us (who went on the tour) got around to blogging this until now. So.....without more delay, here is the Charlotte Motor Speedway tour summary!

Here is the entrance to the racetrack. In between the flagpoles, there are foot and hand prints of famous retired racers, signed by the racers themselves. However, not ALL of those persons are still retired!

For a person who is not a race fan, this was a great tour. The only downsides are: I knew none of the persons they spoke of, and I cannot remember all of the wonderful information they gave.

Charlotte Motor Speedway was built just as racing was becoming a famed sport. It was a big investment, of a few million, I believe. It is comprised of a super speedway, dirt track and a drag way. There are also campsites which are encircled by the super speedway. The stadium houses approximately 30,000 spectators. It also has 52 condominiums.

We watched the cars as they sped by, and then we got on the track ourselves! (By the way, we were in a tour van.). We made one lap around the track, and we got to experience the 25° turn banking, and the 5° super speedway angles. It was pretty thrilling!

We also saw the drag way, and we would have gone further into the speedway, but it was being used. I forgot to add that, no, it was not famous racers practicing whom we saw on the race track. It was a tour where either people could drive a race car with a professional in the passenger, or you could have a professional drive you for 8-10 laps.

Here we are, in the winner's circle!!!!!!!

Oh! We also saw the largest outdoor television screen in the world. No, it is bigger than any you could think of. It can also withstand winds of over 100 miles per hour. Pretty cool, right?

That basically sums up all I can remember. It was a really fun tour, and if you are ever in Concord, North Carolina, I highly recommend the tour.

Signing off, ~Madeline~
