Mt. Vernon

Majestic Mt Vernon
A spectacular day for sure!! We spent all day touring the grounds of George and Martha Washington's home, farm, orchard, mill, distillery, grave site and museum and boy, was it wonderful!! I have soooooo many pictures to share of all of the cool things we saw, so it was super hard for me to decide which ones to include today...I'll start with these :-)) and if need be, I'll do another page-full another day!! We learned so much about General, President Washington today and I've asked each of the kids to write down some of the things they learned about this fascinating man in their school time tomorrow...so I'll have to tell you what they say .. Hope you all are doing well and had a wonderful day! Blessings, Lioness

Majestic Mt Vernon with majestic family!!

One of the MANY gardens...this one happens to be the "Lower Garden" and vineyard
Up close picture of the mansion as we get ready for our tour...sadly, you can't take photographs inside :-((. So, all you will get to see is outside stuff!

One of the multiple "functional" out-buildings...these were not located in the house, so I could take pictures. There were all sorts of these...one for the gardener, clerk/accountant, blacksmith, stables, carriages, slave quarters, shoe maker...even a fire room for his tropical garden so it could survive through the Virginia winters!!
View of the back of the mansion.

View off of the back porch...the Potomac River
Gorgeous foliage everywhere!!

HUGE magnolia trees everywhere!!
