Gettysburg

So here are just a few of the pictures that we took around Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The site of the battleground, the Visitor Center and the Museum on this hallowed ground was absolutely stunning!! It's hard to say which I liked the best...the Cyclorama at the Museum/Visitor Center was probably my favorite. I tried to take some pictures of this gorgeous painting but they didnt really turn out due to the lighting in the round viewing room. This painting was done by a French artist in the early 1800's and it shows many schemes and angles from the Battle of Gettysburg all in fantastic detail. This painting had been under restoration and is now on display and it is definitely a MUST see!! After spending time indoors in the Museum, we then went out to see the battlefield itself. It covered approximately 2 miles and it had been preserved beautifully. Hope you enjoy seeing some of what we saw...

One of the many cannons around the battlefield.

Love this pic! Cannons and barricades at one of the critical sites of the three day battle.

A reenactment of a Confederate campsite...complete with soldiers, doctor and photographer

The doctor, his tent and tools of the trade!

One of the tired soldiers!

The crest of the key lookout site on Little Round Top...stunning view of the entire battlefield area!!

Luke climbed to the top!

Hard to grasp the enormity of the battlefield area in one small picture :-))
