The Highlight of our NH Trip---The Flume!!

I had never heard of this place before, but it turned out to be the highlight of our New Hampshire trip!! All of the NH natives said we needed to do it...so on the first (and only) clear day, we headed to The Flume!! We took a TON of pictures of this most beautiful place, so I will put them into two blogs. This was a gorge of granite rock that had been formed by forceful water cutting through it. It was about a two mile loop of easy trails and we enjoyed every step of it!! It was absolutely majestic and if you are ever in NH, this is a must see!!

 

This reminded us of "The Last of the Mohicans" movie...this is called Table Rock.

My "favorite fella"... Isn't he a handsome young man?! He is only 10 but he has matured so much! Spending quality time with his father has done them both a lot of good!!

More Family Fun in New Hampshire

Just a few pictures of some our family fun times...Polly's Pancake Parlor and an evening at the famous Fryeburg Fair. We had breakfast at Polly's and totally pigged out on their delicious buckwheat pancakes, French toast out of homemade bread and waffles, all topped with pure NH maple syrup...what a GREAT way to start any day!! This day was really our only clear weather day, so we crammed ALOT into it!! First Polly's, then the Flume and finally the Fryeburg Fair. I will need at least one (maybe two) blog about the Flume so that will be forthcoming...

New Hampshire---White Mountains

This is our camp spot...there were only 7 of them so it was a good thing John had reserved it long in advance!!

Sorry for the delay in blog posts, but we have been way out of range of services as we are camping deep in the White Mountains of NH, near Franconia and Littleton, NH. We are staying at Cannon State Park right next to Echo Lake. We arrived right at the peak of fall colors and have seen such glorious colors, when the weather has permitted, and I can't wait to share with all of you the wonderful things that we have done!! There will be several small posts, as I can only load a few pictures at a time and only have cell service for short bursts. These first few pictures are of our campground and the quaint little town of Littleton. Again, many of our days here have been very wet and rainy, but we have still tried to get out and enjoy the area as much as we could.

Day Two in Acadia National Park

This was someone's personal lawn on the edge of the National Park...what a beauty!!

Well, the sunshine confirmed it!! Acadia National Park is our favorite National Park as of yet!! That really says something, as we have now seen Yosemite, Yellowstone, Glacier, and several others and Acadia is right up there at the top! Now remember, you have to see it in the fall...I'm not sure it would be as spectacular any other time of year, but right now it is glorious!! I know you have already seen several pics from us here, but there are just a few more that MUST be posted :-). Yesterday, our only day so far with sunshine, we hiked up to "Bubble Rock" and had our lunch at the top of this hill...wow!! is all I can say...you could see for miles and the colors were breathtaking!! The hike was a bit steep, but it was short (0.7 mile) and it was so worth the effort and a must do if you find yourself in Acadia NP. We also found this little jet-off on a "less-traveled" road and found a magnificent place along the ridges of the ocean. Only one other person was there (who was kind enough to take our family photo) and we stayed here for a long while taking in all the beauty of Maine. Sadly we leave Maine today and head back into a different part of New Hampshire and I think we all will miss it :-(. We have loved Maine...Bar Harbor, Acadia NP, the amazing seafood and our campground (Hadley's RV Park, just outside of Bar Harbor) and especially the fall raiment!!

On the top of Cadillac Mountain...the city down by the water is Bar Harbor and yes, that is a cruise ship in the bay. Lots of tourists are in the area this time of year...the fall colors draw people in from all over the world.

Acadia National Park

Even though the colors are not in "full bloom" yet...the views are still majestic!!

Even though it was raining AGAIN this morning...we had to get out to see Acadia National Park because our time in Maine is closing fast and what a feast for the eyes it was!! Perhaps it was just the grandure of the fall colors on display, but this could be my favorite National Park of them all?!? Wow...what a glorious place!! We enjoyed it so much in the rain, that we are going back tomorrow to see it in the sunshine!! I know my pictures won't do this wonderful place justice, but I hope you will be able to glimpse a touch of the Lord's masterful artistry!! If you have never been able to see Acadia National Park in all of it's fall glory, then you must put it on your "bucket list". I promise you won't be disappointed! Hello Rainy Maine

So we arrived in Maine, just outside of Bar Harbor, Friday afternoon and spent most of the next couple of days inside due to the never ending rain that arrived the day we did!! We did get out Saturday to go into Bar Harbor, a very quaint tourist shop that has a variety of fun shops to look in!! Sunday we braved the downpour to attend church at First Baptish Church Bar Harbor. Boy, did this church remind us of our sweet fellowship of believers back home at FMBC!! The rain certainly slowed us down from some sightseeing over the weekend, so we hope the rain will clear soon so we can get out and see Maine before we leave on Wednesday. Blessings to you, Lioness
