Hershey Chocolate Factory

I now have access to free wii-fi so I can get everybody up to date with some pictures from our adventures. First we'll start with Hershey, Pennsylvania and a tour of the Hershey factory. Everyone totally enjoyed themselves and we all left with a smile on our faces!! Sorry about the repeat of the same picture...seems Blogsy is having a mind of his own!!

Getting ready to help make kisses :-))

This One Is For My Daddy!!

Just a quick post...for my John Deer loving daddy!! This 1944 tractor was used to pull our hay ride out to a "Cornfield Banquet" on the Smucker family farm on our last night in Amish country. We had a truely special evening and I have LOTS more pictures to post but I will have to wait a few day to get them posted when I get to our next campground which will have wii-fi. But I had to post this one just to let my daddy know that I love him, that I'm thinking about him, that we all miss him and that we think he would have made a GREAT Amish farmer!!

PS. If anyone has tried to get a hold of me on my cell phone...it got rained on last night and has died for the moment. It is currently surrounded by rice, in hopes of a miraculous recovery!! Sorry that I haven't called or texted you back...who ever you are? I may be making a visit to a Verizon store in the very near future!?

Quilts, Country Cooking' and BFF's

So we have spent the last couple of days in Amish country enjoying delicious food, beautiful country and even BFF's from Albuquerque. Yesterday we picked up Madeline's best friend Kayla who flew into Philadelphia and will be staying with us for about ten days. Needless to say, Madeline is VERY happy to have Kayla with us!! We are sooooo thankful for her parents allowing and making this all happen!! We have seen covered bridges, many Amish homesteads on beautiful farmland and done lots of looking at quilts, jams, wood creations and homey decorations in the many quaint towns of Lancaster County. I do so enjoy this part of our nation and could come here time and time again and never tire of it :-)). We even are getting to have dinner on an Amish family's (Smucker family, no less!) cornfield tonight, complete with bar-b-que chicken, Lima beans, corn on cob, sweet potatoes, desserts and even a sing-a-long...I'm really looking forward to that!! I have several more pictures to post, so I'll do that after we return. Blessings, Lioness

Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania

Here is a true nugget in this beautiful country of ours...about 20ish miles outside of Wellsboro is this magnificent gorge. It was so breath taking even in the summer, but it will be even more spectacular in the fall. We may adjust our trip in October a bit so that we can come right back here to enjoy the fall colors of Pennsylvania. John and I even accomplished the "Turkey Path" hike...from the top of the rim down to the bottom...serious workout for sure!! The kids stayed home, trying to rest and ward off the tenacious cough that has invaded our children :-((. Needless to say....we have fallen in love with Pennsylvania! So you are now caught up with what we have been doing I the last week or so... We are now in Lancaster, PA to spend a few days in Amish country then a day in Philadelphia and then to Gettysburg and then into Washington, DC. On Wednesday (in two days) we get to pick up Madeline's best friend Kayla whom we will get to love on for then next ten days and we are all so very excited!! Hopefully many more pictures should follow, assuming we can access free wii-fi!!

Pennsylvania Animal Land

Our first stop in Pennsylvania was just outside of Wellsboro, in a state park next to the "Grand Canyon" of Pennsylvania. The campground was also close to an exotic/feeding zoo that reminded us very much of The zoo in one of our favorite movies, "We Bought A Zoo". It needs a bit of "tlc" and a big downfall of money for repairs but we still very much enjoyed it! In the words of Lila..."O, the zoo was awesome!! My favorite was the arctic fox!". Here are a few pictures of our day at the zoo. Blessings, hugs and kisses! Missing y'all bunches!

Just like the tiger in the movie!

Niagara Night Life

Our last night before leaving, we decided to cross over the boarder one last time to see the Falls at night. Plus we decided to play a round of putt-putt...who can say they have putt-putted in Canada?! We can! They also light up the Falls at night and that was neat to see. If I had to chose day or night time viewing of the Falls...Definately go in the day and skip the night :-))

One last daytime picture cuz it was one of my favorites!

Niagra Falls from Canada

Prepared to get soaked!
Sorry for the bit of delay in blog updates...being in northern most New York, on the boarder with Canada made the reception for our iPad pretty much not accessible! Plus we are still figuring out this iPad thing and have realized that posting blogs with lots of pictures REALLY eats up the data uses....thus costs a lot :-)). So now (Monday the 6th) we have arrived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and have free wii-fi here at our campground so now I can use their data instead of my data. So the moral of that long story is that we have seen much, done much and I will try to catch everyone up on our travels. So I think we last left off at Mackinac Island. We had a few hard days of travels to get us from way upper Michigan to way upper New York to get us situated for a few days to take in Niagra Falls. Boy were those hard days of travel worth it!! This was one of the sites that I was most looking forward to seeing....and it did not disappoint!! Canada has done such a beautiful job on the grounds around the Falls so we included a few pictures of that too! We absolutely enjoyed this day to the fullest...including lots of chocolate from the Hershey store!! Sadly, this enchanted time had to come to an end so we began to make our way into Pennsylvania. Stsy tuned, more to come...

Ha
