Mackinac Island, Michigan

We had a wonderful day biking around and through the famous Mackinac Island of Lake Michigan today! The island is about 8 1/2 miles around and we explored every bit of it! It was a beautiful, enchanting island with most of the buildings in the traditional "New England" style architecture and there were NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES ALLOWED!! Only walking, biking and horse drawn carriages for transportation...really cool, if you ask me?! Not even the full-time residents have cars...only bikes or horses :-)). So here are just a few of the pictures that we took today. By the way...for those who might be wandering..."Mackinac" is pronounced "mackinaw" in the Native American Obijiwa language and it means "great turtle". Well, we are about to settle into the opening ceremony of the Olympics so I will sign off for the day. Blessings to our family and friends...we love, miss and are praying for you! Lioness

"The Arch" we saw along our bike ride around the island

Rough Day Yesterday

Well, yesterday wasn't our best day :-((. I got news yesterday (July 25) that my sweet mama (and their little poodle doggie, Miss Mitzie) had been in a single car, rollover accident and was taken to the hospital early in the morning. Miraculously...and we are praising the Lord for the MANY miracles that He did...she came through the four time rollover with just cuts, a bunch of deep bruises and a bump on her head. The doggie was thrown out of the truck but equally miraculously had no injuries whatsoever!! They took a CAT scan of her head (mom's head, not the dog!) and there was not even a slight concussion!! Their Dodge Dakota Sport helped to save her life...as it didn't crumple onto her head...it was a great little truck during it's life and even more valiant in death (it was totaled!). I was quite emotional yesterday and was praising my Lord that He had spared my mama's life and that I could have her around a little while longer!! In addition to that news, we came home to our camper yesterday after being in Mackinaw City doing laundry and shopping for groceries and the awning on our camper was totally bent (as you can see from the pictures). Again, miraculously our neighbor right next to us in the RV park here had a "manual" for taking off and replacing broken RV awnings...talk about an angel!! I mean really...who has a manual for broken awnings?? The awning itself isn't torn or ripped, just the frame part was ruined, so we won't need a whole new awning, just the frame. Total blessing!! So, we went to bed last night with so much gratitude for how the Lord had taken care of both our big and little needs, even before we knew we needed help!! He is soooooooo very good to us!!

Happy Birthday Master Luke!!

At approximately 2:00am this morning, ten years ago, my life was changed forever when my "favorite fella" was born!! We are celebrating Luke's 10th birthday today with much happiness (and a bit of sickness throughout the family :-(( ) because Luke makes our family "complete"!! He's our little comedian and keeps us all laughing and smiling!! He's also my most tender, sensitive and gentle child and he totally pulls his mama's heart strings :-)). We will celebrate with some swimming, lots of breakfast meals, a day full of fun and definitely NO MUSEUMS...per his request! Hope everyone is having a super-duper day...we sure are! Blessings, Lioness

More pictures from Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village

The actual Presidential Lincoln in which Kennedy was shot in
The actual chair Lincoln was sitting in when he was shot
Our family is "Built Ford Tough"!!

A few of the "old-time" buildings in Greenfield Village
I think this is my new favorite quote...think I'll use it in our homeschool!!

Henry Ford Museum

We spent the first part of our day at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. This is a total MUST SEE!! We spent most of the time saying " look at this...oooo, look at that!!". Such wonderful displays of history that has revolved around the invention of the automobile. Here are just a few of the pictures we have taken in the museum and the Henry Ford "Village" is still to come so I'm sure there will be more pictures to follow. Hope you all have had a blessed Sunday so for, Lioness

Brand New Tires!!

We have put so many miles on our current RV tires that it is already time to get new ones...so we sit in Dearborn, Michigan at Discount Tire getting SIX new tires for our Voltage. No small investment, I'm sure!! But the safety of our family is "priceless"!! We will settle in later this afternoon not far from here in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I'll let you know soon how things are for us there. Blessings, Lioness

Our Day In Chicago

It was a day full of fun and sight seeing!! After our Cubs game we we took the subway and a trolley and made it down to Navy Pier. It was more like an amusement park and boy, did we have a blast! As you can see from the picture, it was a completely overcast day. It even drizzled just a slight bit. We all rode the ferris wheel...which was a big deal for our Madeline who is afraid of heights :-)). She said that the ride was "all right, cuz I didn't look down!". Then John, Paige, Luke and Lila rode the swing ride while Madeline and I watched and took pictures. We ate dinner at Bubba Gump's and started to make our way home...about a two hour process from Navy Pier to home. We reached home around 10:00pm and fell asleep with happy smiles on our faces. It was a GREAT day!! My son did ask..."what's for breakfast, Mom...waffles??". That boy is always thinking about breakfast!! Sweet dreams to all, Lioness

Cubbies Are Winning

It's top of the 8th, the Cubbie outfielder just made a HUGE catch...one of those flying leap, belly flop kind and the Cubbies are winning so far...4 to 1. It has been an absolutely perfect day for a game of baseball...slight breeze, cloud cover and 80 degrees! After the game we will battle the thousands of fans to get out of the stadium and we will head to Navy Pier for the rest of the afternoon. I probably won't be able to post more today, but I'll try to tomorrow. Blessings, Lioness

Can Anyone Guess Where We Are??

Yeppers...we are at the Chicago Cubs game!! The game just started and the Cubs are playing the Florida Marlins. I'll let you know how it all ends up!! Gotta love the American pastime with Family, Chicago dogs and soda!! Hugs and kisses to all, Lioness

On The Road Again

We've traveled through Minnesota and Wisconsin in the last two days and today we will arrive in Illinois. We definitely need the Willie Nelson song, "On the Road Again" as our theme song!! We will be in the Chicago area for the next three days to enjoy a few thing there. Tomorrow is a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley field which I'm really excited about! I'm not a huge baseball fan but I really enjoy a summer baseball game once a year and to see the Cubs play will be really cool!! While in Chicago we will also catch a museum or two and Navy Pier. Should be lots of fun for us! I'll let you all know how everything goes once we get "off the road again!". Lioness
